This plugin connects a WordPress site to your workspace, and works both ways. * **Share new articles.** When an article is published, its title, excerpt, link, image (the featured image, or else the first image in the article) and tags go to MBX Flow, which writes a social post and schedules it to the accounts you chose: right away, or at the time MBX Flow picks. Each article’s editor has an MBX Flow box to change the accounts and timing for that one, or to keep it off the networks. * **Publish from MBX Flow.** A post you send to your WordPress account from MBX Flow becomes an entry on this blog, with its first line as the title, its image as the featured image and its hashtags as tags. You choose whether it is published or left as a draft for you, in which category, and under which author. Connecting takes one code. In MBX Flow you press Get a connect code; you paste it here and press Connect, then approve the site in MBX Flow with Connect this site. There is no address to copy and no password to type, and the code works once. The site and MBX Flow hold two keys, one per direction; of the one MBX Flow uses to reach the site, the site keeps only a fingerprint. Those keys reach only the plugin’s own endpoints: MBX Flow cannot log in to this site or read anything else. You need an MBX Flow account to use it: https://mbxflow.com/ ### External services This plugin talks to **your MBX Flow workspace**, the social publishing service operated by MediaBoxEnt Technologies. When you connect, it sends the connect code to https://mbxflow.com/api/wp-connect, which answers with the address of the workspace that issued the code, and nothing else; it then asks that workspace which connection versions it supports, and sends it the code with the site’s address, the address of the plugin’s REST endpoints, the site’s name and the WordPress and plugin versions. Until the connection is approved in MBX Flow, the plugin page asks the workspace every few seconds whether it was approved, sending only the site’s key. For each article you share, it sends that article’s title, excerpt, link, image address ( the featured image, or else the first image in the article) and tags, with the accounts and timing you chose. It reads back the list of accounts connected in your workspace( names and networks only). Nothing is sent for an article you do not share. When MBX Flow publishes to this site, the request comes from your workspace to this plugin’s endpoint, carrying the entry’s title, body, image address and tags. When keys are renewed in MBX Flow, the workspace sends the site a new key and the site asks the workspace for its own new one. MBX Flow™ is a product of MediaBoxEnt Technologies. ## Installation 1. Install and activate the plugin. 2. In MBX Flow, open Automation WordPress and press Get a connect code. 3. Open MBX Flow in the WordPress admin menu, paste the code and press Connect. 4. Back in MBX Flow, press Connect this site next to your site’s address. The plugin page notices on its own. 5. Choose which accounts new articles are shared to and when, and how entries coming from MBX Flow are created. ## FAQ ### Does MBX Flow get a password for my site? No. Connecting gives the site and MBX Flow two keys, one for each direction, and they work only on the plugin’s own endpoints: reading the site’s name and version, creating an entry the way you configured, renewing the keys and disconnecting. They cannot log in, edit other content or read your users. Of the key MBX Flow uses to reach the site, the site keeps only a fingerprint, so a copy of the site’s database does not hold it. ### Why does connecting ask me to approve the site in MBX Flow? So that a connect code that got into the wrong hands cannot join a site you do not know. After you press Connect here, MBX Flow shows the site’s address with a Connect this site button. Only use a code you created yourself in your own workspace: whoever owns the code can publish entries on the blog. ### I updated from 2.0 and the site is not connected any more 2.1.0 connects in a safer way, so the old connection is dropped when you update. Get a new connect code in MBX Flow and connect the site again; your sharing and publishing settings stay. ### Can I use only one direction? Yes. The plugin page has one switch for each: “Share articles from this blog to MBX Flow” and “Let MBX Flow publish entries on this blog”. With the second one off, MBX Flow is told that publishing is switched off on the site when it tries. ### Can an entry MBX Flow publishes here get shared back out? No. Every entry created from MBX Flow is marked, and marked entries are never shared, so a post cannot go round in a loop. ### Which articles are shared? Posts, when published for the first time, if “Share when published” is on for them. Password-protected articles are never shared. The default is on the plugin’s MBX Flow page; each article’s editor has an MBX Flow box to change it. Updating an article that was already shared does not share it again; saving one whose share failed tries again. Other post types can be added with the `mbxflow_post_types` filter. ### Can I turn the AI off? Yes, both parts of it, on the plugin’s MBX Flow page and per article in the editor’s MBX Flow box. “Write the post with AI” off means the social post is the article’s title, excerpt and link, with its tags as hashtags, and no AI is used. “Post now” means it goes out as soon as the article is published; “best time (AI)” lets MBX Flow choose the slot. ### When does the share happen? About a minute after publishing. The share is queued so that the choices in the article’s MBX Flow box are saved before it is sent. The box then shows “Shared on MBX Flow” with the time the social post is scheduled for. ### Sharing says it needs the Pro plan Sharing new articles is part of the MBX Flow Pro plan, like RSS Social. Publishing from MBX Flow to this blog works on every plan. ### How do I disconnect? MBX Flow (admin menu) Disconnect. The keys are deleted here and MBX Flow is told the site left. You can also disconnect the site from MBX Flow under Accounts; the plugin page then says so and asks for a new code. The plugin page notices on its own. * Renew keys in MBX Flow replaces both keys without reconnecting. * Disconnecting here tells MBX Flow, and a site disconnected in MBX Flow says so on its plugin page and dashboard. * An entry sent twice from MBX Flow (a retry after a timeout) is created once. * An article without a featured image is shared with the first image in its text. * After updating, get a new connect code in MBX Flow and connect the site again. #### 2.0.6 * Sites in any variant of Spanish, French, German or Italian (for example Spanish from Argentina or Mexico, French from Canada, German from Switzerland) see the plugin in their language instead of English. #### 2.0.5 * The plugin’s folder and translations use its WordPress.org address, mbx-flow, so language packs from WordPress.org apply to it. #### 2.0.2 * Everything typed on the MBX Flow page and in the article’s MBX Flow box is cleaned before it is used. #### 2.0.1 * An article whose share did not go through is shared again the next time it is published or updated, instead of being marked as done. * Workspace and connection addresses must start with https://, so the connection token never travels unencrypted. * A workspace on a private network that only knows itself as localhost no longer leaves the site pointed at localhost after connecting: the address you typed is kept. #### 2.0.0 * Connecting is one code, taken from MBX Flow under Automation WordPress. There is no address to copy: the code itself says which workspace to talk to, so a workspace that moves is one the plugin follows on its own. * The two-step approval is gone.
